Our approach and commitment
Avature is dedicated to environmentally responsible operations in all aspects of our business—from delivering products and services to managing our offices, selecting suppliers, and beyond. We comply with all relevant environmental laws and regulations and adhere to our own sustainable practices, as detailed in our Corporate Social Responsibility policy, and we support the Paris Accord and are committed to science-based targets. Our environmental initiatives cover 1800 employees, sixteen offices, and multiple data centers around the world.
Because Avature is a Software as a Service (SaaS) organization and does not manufacture or transport goods, we do not directly produce significant greenhouse gas emissions. Our environmental impact comes primarily from employee travel, office operations, and data center energy use. Since 2022, Avature has been CO2 neutral, with ongoing programs to reduce energy consumption and recycle, including e-waste. Our data processing services are performed in co-location data centers and the public cloud. These facilities are selected based on their environmental record. For a more detailed description of the carbon footprint of these service providers, refer to the supplier section below.
Our efforts
Avature has long been committed to reducing energy consumption relative to revenue growth and sourcing power from renewable sources when available. All offices are equipped with LED lighting, and we run comprehensive recycling programs, including e-waste management.
Our offices are strategically located in urban centers with easy access to public transport, promoting sustainable commuting. Over 90% of our employees use low-impact transportation methods like walking, cycling, or public transport, and all offices provide parking for bicycles and scooters. We also have a work-from-home policy that allows employees to work remotely, minimizing commuting impacts.
All our offices are leased, and we have upgraded interiors to be more energy-efficient, such as using 100% LED lighting and applying heat-reflecting laminates on windows. While we do not control heating and cooling systems, they are optimized to maintain a consistent temperature, supported by a seasonally adaptive dress code.
Additional electricity-saving practices include minimizing the use of air conditioning and heating, turning off lights and equipment when not in use, and setting computers to energy-saving modes. We have also eliminated printed materials, opting for digital communication whenever possible, and offer e-waste disposal services for employees.
Responsible suppliers
Avature’s data processing, the most energy-intensive part of our operations, is powered by nearly 100% renewable energy, with our data centers holding certifications that validate this commitment. Our data center providers implement advanced programs for energy efficiency, renewable energy use, and maintain certifications such as ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and U.S. EPA Energy Star. Many of them have already achieved or are progressing towards carbon neutrality.
For example, Amazon Web Services (AWS) is committed to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 and will match 100% of its electricity consumption globally with renewable energy in 2023. AWS focuses on energy-efficient infrastructure, circular economy principles to reduce waste, and aims to return more water to communities than it uses by 2030. Research shows AWS infrastructure can be up to 4.1 times more energy-efficient than traditional on-premises solutions, with potential carbon footprint reductions of up to 99%.
Equinix, another provider, achieved 96% renewable energy coverage for global operations, with a goal of reaching 100% by 2030. The company has earned top environmental recognitions, including an “A” rating from CDP Climate Change for two consecutive years, and has been recognized as a CDP Supplier Engagement Leader. Equinix also continues to invest in green buildings, energy efficiency, and water conservation efforts.
Our commitment to sustainability through responsible data center partnerships helps minimize our environmental impact while ensuring efficient, reliable services.
Enabling Sustainability Remotely
All implementation, training, and support services for our software are provided online, ensuring we do not add to our customer’s carbon footprint by avoiding ground or air transportation. When shipping is necessary, Avature prioritizes carriers with the lowest carbon footprint. Our solutions also help customers reduce their environmental impact by enabling paperless operations and digitalizing manual processes. Our high availability and low latency allow users to work remotely, further reducing emissions from commuting.
We work to ensure our customers, suppliers, employees, and communities understand our environmental impact and the measures we take to mitigate it. By offering all services remotely and optimizing data processing through our advanced cloud technology and highly energy-efficient data centers, we help reduce energy consumption and promote sustainability.
Avature has always been committed to environmental responsibility, complying with all relevant laws and regulations while pursuing self-directed initiatives that benefit our customers, employees, and communities.
Through our online services and commitment to sustainability, Avature continually strives to reduce our environmental impact and help our customers do the same, fostering a more sustainable future for everyone.
